Vendremnel

There once was a Fey named Aurora,
if you were lookin' for beauty she would show ya.
She had long silver hair,
and eyes as fierce as a bear.
And of course she was a queen, no duh.

One day she was eating a melon,
when she saw an ill-lookin' felon.
She spat out some seeds,
her warnings he did not heed.
And you bet that he died yellin'

What Aurora did not know,
was the seeds began to grow.
Out popped a dragon,
who leapt into a wagon.
Eyes with curiosity that were aglow.

Now she has found a nice roost,
seeing other dragons gave her a boost.
She hoped she could mate,
but, alas, would have to wait.
For melons were not meant to be reproduced.

But harken - who is that over there?
Green and red with scales most fair?
Another watermelon colored creature,
who seemed most happy to meet her.
Looking like he was meant for her, she could swear.





And so our watermelon found an ideal partner,
whose scales, while fair, were also his armor.
They found a green and red hatchery,
for they would have to mate, naturally.
Who would have known that she was such a charmer?

Yet, they found another delay,
which kept their mating at bay.
Her partner needed some time,
but that was hardly a crime.
For now she no longer felt dismay.

Alas, for her mate met another,
a watermelon, purer than any other.
Vendremnel began to despair,
she had thought them an ideal pair.
Her breath taut like she was smothered.

And so her search began anew,
she would find another dragon, but who?
Who else would be so green and red,
she turned to follow where her heart led.
For such dragons were far and few.

She heard that a gathering had begun,
filled with watermelons, much more than one!
She hastened to find the place,
her heart quickened and began to race.
For seeing more such dragons sounded quite fun.

She arrived and beheld them all,
all vibrant, some handsome and quite tall.
She felt a bit shy,
couldn't meet their eye.
Compared to them, she felt rather small.

How could she hope to compare?
Next to them she felt plain and bare.
Who would ever approach her?
Despite how many there were.
Surely here was her partner, but where?

She decided to buy lots of light green silk,
as smooth and soft as fresh cold milk.
She would seduce a fine male,
one with a long, strong tail.
One which, when she approached, would not bilk.

Yet the months continued to pass,
The warmth of autumn could not last.
Melons flew on by,
None would catch her eye.
And so the last of her hope was cast.

Then he came, a voice dark and deep,
Such power it held, it made the little Fey weep.
It wanted to make with her a deal,
One that would make the melons yield.
And cast them into an eternal, everlasting sleep.
