"Don't you dare give up on yourself." Before the days of greatness, before the lavish feasts and prideful saunters in decorated parade, he had nothing. Left behind in some terrible accident or maybe just outright abandoned, he never knew -- it never mattered. He was alone in the deep snowdrifts and blinding storms. Only by the grace of internal fire did he survive; nothing but a shivering hatchling who miserably, painstakingly, set one foot in front of the other ahead of a trail of puddles-turned-ice. And then, someone found him. Someone he thought was a kind soul. They took him in and gave him shelter, a bite of warm food, and a blanket to huddle beneath. And he grew, little by little. So too did his internal fire. And the kind soul who took him in grew more impatient with him. "It's uncomfortably hot around you." He did his best to bank the roaring heat within. When he failed, he was set outside in the snow to physically force his temperature to lower. As the years drifted by like snowflakes, he learned to hide the inferno that raged within. He could disguise himself well enough to pass among the Ice kin without notice. Cold. Alone. A wolf in the shadows. But beneath the stoic and cold exterior, his fire burned hot enough to take on the same icy blue of the surrounding glaciers. Then, during a brief skirmish with the Fire kin, he met him. The moment they made contact in battle, a torrential flame exploded out of his chest and he breathed a cone of fire that would have incinerated a living forest. His foe just laughed. Wiggled, even. Enjoyed the heat. It took very little to persuade him to leave. He joined his new friend, who quickly became his mate, and together they found their place amongst a battle clan of proud and regal fighters. Most important, though, is that the hatchlings love to lay against him for warmth. "A living incubator", the clan calls him. He's very happy to live up to his name.
