Uh-oh, looks like this typography enthusiast wandered a little too far from his home lair (sgkat, 158838), and now he's off to see the world! If you ever feel the urge to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him home instead, or to the 'Dragons Off to See the World' thread. Karam would be offended if someone took a look at his traveler's journal and opined that it was all just placeholder text, because it's not. Yes, there are pages upon pages of lorem ipsum in his journal, but that's because he's constantly analyzing the design of typefaces, their strengths and weaknesses. He's particularly fond of extravagantly embellished type, with lots of swashes and gadzooks, even if he acknowledges that it can be hard to read; he'll even concede that other dragons are justified in calling that a weakness. But he adores experimenting with designing type, and the more embellished it is, the more fun he has with it.

He's decided to travel the world to observe all kinds of type in all their varied natural habitats - from books to inn signs - just for fun.

His travels took him to a most unusual place: the Foxfire Bramble. While it was easy to get lost inside of it, he had heard rumors on his travels of a most unusual place inside one of Sornieth's most dangerous places. Of a hidden Kingdom, lying within a magical fog. With probably one of the most extensive libraries in the Tangled Wood. Of course, the Skydancer was estatic! So much so that he uh... got lost. In his defense, though, the Foxfire Bramble is really easy to get lost in.

He stood still for a moment, trying to remember the words that that traveling dragon had told him... right! He lowered his head, thoughts and emotions spiraling through his mind, and within moments the mystical Fog had appeared. He grinned, and began running at full gallop. A second later, he was overlooking one of the most beautiful cities he had ever seen - it rivaled that of the Lanternlea Port, he was sure.

"Ah! I'm so sorry!" A voice yelled from up ahead. He looked down the large cliff that he would have to scale to actually enter the Kingdom's domain, and saw a denim-colored Obelisk grinning as he hung onto the wall, his buttercup-colored wings glowing brightly and drooping heavily off of his form. "Could you, uh... help me up?"

Karam shrugged, and helped the dragon back onto the ledge. The Obelisk let out a sigh of relief. "Thanks. My name's Venti, Head of Assignments. You're a traveler, right?"

The Skydancer nodded. "I am! I'm looking for all kinds of fonts to record in my journal!" He opened the leatherbound book up and shoved it in the Obelisk's face. He chuckled awkwardly, slowly pushing the book away.

"Ah, wonderful. We don't really have... dead-set fonts. It's more of a 'please make your handwriting legible-'"

"Even better!" Karam grinned. "Where can I find the library, too?"

Venti blinked, then pointed to the large citadel in the middle of the city. "It's in the Citadel, but- hey, wait!" The typographer had already launched himself, and the Obelisk shook his wings, removing most of the glow from then. "Thanks a lot, Plaguebringer," he hissed under his breath, before launching after Karam. "Hey! Wait up! You can't enter inside without a Council member's permission...!"

It took some time (and Venti asking literally every Council member) before Seafoam rolled her eyes and agreed to let Karam in if Venti was with him at all times. The Skydancer bounced excitedly, scanning the rows upon rows upon columns of books that lined the hidden underground interior of the Council Citadel.

"So~ many~ FONTS!" He squealed. He picked up one book - a navy-hardback with an earth rune carved into it - but then blinked at the text. "Huh? What's this?"

Venti stepped over and examined it. "Oh, this must be one of the Queen's logs. She traveled Sornieth for a while before establishing the Kingdom; this is probably her diary of exploring Dragonhome."

Karam immediately set it down. "I'm not reading her diary! That's personal information-! Why are you laughing?!" He huffed at the cackling Obelisk.

Venti choked on his laughter, before settling himself with a happy little sigh. "Sorry. She gave us her diaries. Info that she wanted to keep secret she wrote in her native language." He picked up the book again and opened to a random page. He pointed to some strange symbols, squeezed into the margins of her notes, writings, and sketches. Karam had never seen such a language before. "See? No one can read it."

"Wow," Karam breathed. His eyes lit up. "Does that mean I could copy her handwriting then?!"

"...you can try."

Time passes by so quickly. With too many new entries than neither Karam nor Venti could count, the Skydancer returned down the way he came, and found himself walking out of the Cairnstone Rest. He made a confused noise, but shrugged, and took flight. The Kingdom was hidden from all, accessible only by those lost and wandering. It didn't come as a surprise to the typographer if the Kingdom would throw you out somewhere else.

A city outside the fortress of ends hid many many secrets but as well as plenty of information to share. He went to see the old record keeper to see if there was anything that was of interest. After a week of looking through books available to the public, including visitors, it was time to get on the road again to perhaps somewhere a little warmer.

Karam had a great time visiting the Wind dragons territory. He spent some time reading books with the the fae dragon Tempestas. Tempestas is a sorcerer so she shared her books on magic and fighting with him. Reading the books on fighting, helped Karam improve his fighting skills.
