Arcane Smith Spirited Away Claret was the last born in the first clutch of Ezio and Leonardo. She has no memories of her early life, however, as she was taken very shortly after hatching from her home in the Flamecaller's Domain. She grew up on the Windswept Plateau, but her passion and industrious nature could not be swayed by the swirling winds. She learned all she could of the forgemaster's craft from the many travelers who passed through her clan's territory. Though the knowledge she gained was often second hand, it was also varied, and she learned a great deal about arcane crafts and applied them to her work with metals. She possessed a strong work ethic which made her useful and well-liked in her new home. One day, a Coatl heading a caravan from the Scarred Wasteland came to her clan to trade. When he learned of her skills and heritage he asked to meet her. Her father was a plague dragon, though she never knew that herself. The coatl struck a deal with the leader of the clan, and arranged for her to be taken back to his home. She was startled by this decision, as all the arrangements were made without her having known or consented. The place she had grown up in and treated as her home had sold her like a slave. Creed of Dominance She went with the coatl and his caravan, filled with apprehension and pain. The dragon who had bought her was very kind, but she did not trust him or his kindness. The dragons of her previous home had been kind to her as well, but it did not stop them from betraying her. The Scarred Wasteland was a frightening place and her new clanmates were fierce. They showed a terrifying loyalty to their leader, a so-called queen. Claret was never treated cruelly, but she did not feel at home, or like she was anything more than a slave. She continued her studies with forging, metalworking, and enchanting until the queen of the clan came to her and asked her if she wanted to leave. Claret had scarcely seen the strange mirror who commanded such fear and reverence from the clan and did not find her frightful or impressive at all. "I would leave." She admitted. "But I have nowhere to go." |

"Finny can take you anywhere you wish to go." Said Minstri, the Queen. "You could go see the Ashfall, or walk among arcane's crystal spires if you wished. You would find these places very welcoming I'm sure. I did not have you brought here to be filled with grief. I brought you here to realize your potential, but if you do not want what I have to offer, you are more than welcome to be on your way." Uncertain, Claret asked what potential Minstri meant. The little mirror approached and spread her wings wide. Claret saw her wings were animated blood, and the queen's flesh was a bony carapace overtop it. The Skydancer couldn't fathom how she had not seen it before now. "I want to craft dragons like me - as I was forged by the Plaguebringer from the living earth." Her concerns over her own freedom assuaged Claret quickly became fascinated with the project and helped Minstri develop the first Shattered Constructs. During her time with the clan, she continued to assist Verthandi in the maintenance of the Shattered Construct guardians of the clan. Reinforcing their bodies with augmentation of enchanted metals. After the success of her work, she began to feel more at home in this new clan. Her sense of belonging grew stronger when Sengir was brought into the clan. While many of the clan's members felt unnerved by the undead creature (many plaguelings feel the undead are an affront to the Plaguebringer), her work with the constructs had changed Claret's concept of "living." Though they would seem an odd match, Sengir became a stabilizing force in Claret's life. For to him she never had to prove her worth. Her value was intrinsic, and he loved her dearly. With him she found the strength to be her own - belonging to no one else. For a long time, Claret served the Clan of Singing Blood as their forge master. She created the base equipment and materials to be used for magical goods and gear. She combined the industry of fire and the wonder of arcane to create her masterpieces. Departure When Sengir resolved to leave the clan, Claret did not decide she would go with him straight away. It did not take her long to realize that her home and her work had become strangely empty without him. It was no longer the work that held her passion. So she left the clan after him, leaving her forge and position to her apprentice, Kwolek. She found he had not gone far. He had waited for her at an old outpost on the edge of the Clan's territory, and they departed together. The Next Chapter Now where has the industrious forge master found herself? She is now the new forge master of The Brood. She has done such a great job that BloodFreak could not resist making her his weapon maker. She has been welcomed into the clan. |
