"Thea," the older dragon's voice came from the small ivory fae who sat perched atop the clan king Njord's shoulder, "Two hundred thirteen years you've been with us. Through the Great Abandonment, you remained. I'm honored to pronounce you Thea, Pearlcatcher Crystalized."
The dark hood hid any expression the pearlcatcher made, though she clutched her pearl tightly to her chest as she listened.
"You've provided for the clan through your progeny, even giving us Virgil, an astounding dragon of his own. Now, even after so many years of work, you've taken it upon yourself to be our healer in battle. To fight alongside The Cannons Hyperion and Kohiro even at such an early rank. It is with great pride that I bestow unto you a gift of modification- the Opal scroll. Such a rare scroll is not given lightly. Are you ready?"
"Yes, Psamathe."
The pearlcatcher's head spun as the scroll unfurled itself, and she felt her rough gembond melt into her scales and shift, catching the light and some yellow from her wings to trap inside the opal patches. She ran her claws over her scales- the border between her arm and the opal embedded in her was smooth. She wiggled her back and fluttered her wings- they were so light, and the stretch- oh how great it was for Thea.
The pearlcatcher turned her attention back to the matriarch, bowing her head and holding her wings out in respect, "Thank you, Psamathe."
"Now," the fae clapped her hands together, "We will begin the feast! In honor of Thea, Pearlcatcher Crystalized.
