Vulpes
Vulpes, a coatl who came to Sanitatem on the grounds of seeking a place to peddle her wares and indulge in her favourite pastime that eventually became a job, had no idea that he life would be flipped upside down.
Taking a new set of treats out of the ovens, Vulpes turned to find a pink wildclaw staring at her, and she waves as she goes about her day. Szayelaporro was a researcher that had been brought into the clan, and though he preferred his treats with a bit more blood than Vulpes was comfortable dealing with, if that was her only grievance concerning him, she was fine with it.
Though, she knows he watches.
She feels his yellow eyes on her on the regular, from the time she works in the kitchens, when she goes around Sanitatem offering food to the dragons around her, to when she retreats to her sleeping area at night.
Soon, she is called before Starfall himself, and Vulpes gulps as she recalls the rumours swirling around the clan about their leader. Corrupt, ambitious, callous towards those he thinks below him and willing to use dragons for his own gain. Instead, she is surprised when she is asked if she has a mate. She shakes her head in the negative, unaware as to how such a truthful answer would change her life.
Szayelaporro chose her, then, to be his mate. Thrust into a mateship with a dragon she does not know, Vulpes is disturbed by Szayelaporro's constant chase of perfection and bettering himself, and realises soon that any hatchlings they have will either be her responsibility, or that they will leave the clan.
However, she does not expect Szayelaporro's need to better himself to extend to her. Embittered at the idea of being ordered around, she nonetheless surrounds herself in studies at her mate's behest, and finds enjoyment in it to her own surprise. She finds enjoyment in being better than Szayelaporro expects her to be.
