Quicksilver

The son of an Imperial beauty and a dragon born from the pits of plague, Quicksilver has wandered a little too far from his home lair (SauriumDragonArt, 534270), and now he's off to see the world! If you ever feel the urge to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him home instead, or to the 'Dragons Off to See the World' thread. If you don't want another traveler in return, you can also drop him off at the Traveling Dragon Rest Hub!

Quicksilver decided to visit the neighbouring Shadow territory. He spent a few days with other hatchlings, learning and growing with them. They taught him many tricks (some more mischievous than others) and showed him how to conceal himself. His confidence grew quickly, and very soon Quicksilver decided he wanted to put his new tricks to the test. He was excited to see what the world could throw at him (and to see what he could throw back in return!)

Quicksilver only made it to the Plague/Shadow border, where he found a clan made up of performers. Keeping in mind what he'd learned in the previous clan, he tried out a few circus tricks. He found he was getting pretty good at it - maybe he'd get better!

sgkat Quicksilver very quickly learned that tricks - mischievous or otherwise - would not be tolerated at the Sunbeam Lanternhouse. However, he found himself in the company of Eirwen, and she suggested a gene makeover for him - that could be considered a kind of trick, couldn't it? But even better, she helped him design an outfit: he took great satisfaction in embracing the Plague aesthetic. He could look stylish and take pride in his birth flight.

Quicksliver found himself at a strange little lake town called Underhel. While wandering through he meet some wonderful dragons. One dragon gave him candy, another gave him a necklace of bones, but his favorite gift he got was a doll made to look like himself. The town might be creepy looking but it was filled with lovely dragons that shared stories, gave gifts, and taught him some fun dances. He felt like one day he might want to come back here.

Chance took Quicksilver over the Plague border into the Windswept Plateau for the first time. A playful, masked dragon approached as he rested in the tall grass. He claimed to be a lesser spirit of the winds and led Quicksilver to a place the spirit promised he'd be safe, disappearing with a mirthful laugh before Quicksilver had the chance to even thank him.

Before him the traveler found a vast, winding garden filled with fountains, statues, and pools with bridges over the petal-strewn water. An old temple was nestled at the base of the tall cliffs nearby, protected from the strong winds of the Plataeu, and within he found the ancient Scrollkeeps, whose job it is to reccord all they can about the dragons of Sornieth on lengthy scrolls that fill countless scrolls on the upper levers of the temple. One of the younger monks there recorded Quicksilver's journey, excited to contribute her first scroll to the library and seemingly unaware that the mischievous Quicksilver may have embellished the details juuust a bit.

A refugee clan that had made their new home in the lowest level of the temple welcomed him warmly, the mysterious dragons of the garden shared a grand feast by lantern-light, and the nearby abbey sent some food and supplies for the traveler when he decided it was finally time to be on his way.

He enjoyed the quiet meditative atmosphere of the last clan so much that Quicksilver decided to head to a garden sanctuary for traveling dragons. It seemed to be a natural temple, with a wild feel to it, flowers and plants growing up where they liked and a flowing stream trickling through, making the sweet music that only nature can produce. There he met the Caretaker of the place, Axolotl, who welcomed him warmly.

Hearing that Quicksilver was from the plague domain, the colorful skydancer quickly introduced him to CottonFlumes, who apparently was born in a puddle of disjointed bones and muscles and everyone thought she'd die. But a magical cloth helped her to survive. Even though their stories were different, Quicksilver related to her. The two plague dragons became friends and decided to keep in contact as they traveled.

Quicksilver also performed his tricks for this clan, and he found, with some delight, that his shadowy skills could be used to entertain and make people laugh as well as used to sneak around and do mischievous things.

Quicksilver moved on to another Nature clan, the Firefly Forest Clan. It was a small, but welcoming, clan, although some dragons regarded him with suspicion because of his Plague roots. One of the leaders, a serious Guardian named Blackthorn, questioned him about whether his intentions were pure, but her cheerful mate Evergreen reassured her that the traveler was innocent.

Quicksilver was invited to a communal dinner, which was meager as far as communal dinners go, but he enjoyed it a lot! He showed off some of his tricks, which the Shadow magician Vellatella loved. She even showed him a couple of magic tricks to use in the future. Quicksilver found out that the clan was going through some rough times, having difficulties making money and supporting all of its residents, and that his stay had helped cheer everyone up. It had been a while since anyone new had come.

As a thank-you gift, the clan gave Quicksilver some supplies and he went on his way to the next adventure. A friendly Mith hanging around the premises decided to come with him - their colors matched perfectly!

On his way out of Nature territory, Quicksilver stumbled upon a clan of traveling performers. Eagerly, he showed off his skills, and was invited to travel with them for a bit. One or more dragons would put on a performance each night, whether it was for a town they'd stopped in or simply for other members of the clan, and each day they would travel and practice their skills. Quicksilver was happy to perform with the dragons whenever something called for his skills, and he found himself dancing and clowning quite often. It was a lot of fun, but eventually he decided it was time to move on and travel apart from them again. Still, he had loved his time with these dragons, and promised to visit again one day!

Quicksilver decided it was time for something new and interesting, so he made his way to Earth flight for the first time ever. A large kingdom Called Teraracotta was the perfect place to stay, as it captured the warm welcoming essence of earth but harbored a lot of diversity within it's stone walls. He loved the amazing food at the local tavern. However, while gambling over some sort of tile game he learned, he managed to lose half of his treasure stores over a bet with Myth and had to leave before the cost of renting a room became too much for his wallet. Regardless he loved meeting all kinds of dragons

On his route here, he drifted through a low pass that was covered in scrawny Douglas-fir trees. The cliffs on each side were velvety and dark, and the air smelled of metal and resin. Quicksilver, the slimy, ever-changing gentleman walked along a slime-matted road, he was used to the grossness of plague. Someone else was walking along the same road, a shadowy Guardian who was watering the poisonous viper-plants.
Like the gentleman he is, Quicksilver introduced himself.
"WHAT?" She responded.
"Huh? Sorry, I don't understand."
"WHAT. ONLY SAY." She somewhat franticly pointed at her many eyes.
"Oh, I think I understand. You can't talk, can you?
She shook her head no, seemly ashamed.
"That's all right, you seem like a nice chap." He gave a charming smile, before siting down next to her. WHAT and Quicksilver spend many a sunny afternoon in a nearby hostel before he had to depart once more.

Quicksilver landed in the Failte Flight, and immediately sensed an uneasy vibe. The clan had been underfed throughout the winter, and in the heat of summer, they struggled to regain their strength and joy. Quicksilver quickly decided to take it upon himself and bring back the magic of celebrations! Joining together with the hatchlings of the flight, he put on a musical performance of a lifetime. It boosted morale within the dens, and to celebrate, the flight hosted a feast in his honor. He would leave in better spirits than both he and they had been before.
