Biography
ARAORA
XE/XIR | LESBIAN
|
A prophet arrives.
Araora is not a normal veilspun; that much is immediately clear from the smoke that pours from xir pale green eyes. Xe lived in a large swarm of other, more ordinary veilspun dragons for most of xir upbringing, until xir strange prophetic powers began to manifest. Xe always had a knack for knowing how things would go: whether hunts or battles would prove successful, how many eggs would be in an unborn clutch, even whether two other dragons would become mates in the future. But these were usually put down to lucky guesses and intuition. It was only when xir powers of prophecy became more widespread that xir home swarm became confused. There seemed to be no reason for this to be happening to Araora, a dragon who, before this, had harbored no interest in magic or fortune-telling. Though xir impressions of the future were hazy, they predicted such events as the Dustcarve Dig and the emergence of the Aberrations without so much as setting claw outside of xir home in the Wind territories. Encouraged by xir swarm and family to take these visions seriously, xe began traveling (with frequent trips back home) to find dragons walking down paths or living in the shadows of soon-to-be monumental changes in Sornieth, warning them so they were prepared when the time came to act. Araora has yet to find evidence that xir warnings change any outcomes of future events, but xe always considers this a possibility. Araora met Voynich on a trip into the light territories' many scholarly cities and settlements, and immediately got a strange feeling from her. After speaking about her home life, Araora asked if xe could visit Tephra's clan, which Voynich of course agreed to. Upon arrival, Araora sat down with Tephra and Petri and told them that xe thought something important would take place in their clan's territory soon, but that xe could not tell what that something was. Tephra, ever the trustworthy in other dragons, asked Araora if xe could stay with the clan until that "something" occurred, in case their premonition became clearer with time. Following xir prophetic impulses, Araora agreed. Currently, Araora is a house guest in Tephra's den, sleeping in Tephra's fur in order to keep warm and avoid hibernation. Xe has become fast friends with Voynich, who is roughly xir age, and enjoys talking with her about magic and history, as well as xir own confusion about xir powers. Araora used to be a very showy and outgoing dragon, and this does show through when xe is comfortable with the dragons in xir company. However, with the advent of xir new powers, xir self-image has become more complex; xe worries that the now infinitely more complex machinations of xir future-sighted mind may confuse and frighten other dragons, especially those uncomfortable with deep topics like causality, free will, and mortality. As such, Araora has developed a very thick outer wall around xir true personality, and even with those walls down, is always afraid of scaring new friends off with xir thoughts and interests.
