creation is wonderful and fulfilling. art is an outpouring of the soul, ones emotions laid bare on canvas or paper or stone. the pull to create is ancient and powerful, and unites us with our far-flung ancestors. creation is beautiful, no matter the skill level, for even children create, even children feel the desire to make. it can hurt terribly when those of us who have made creation our livelihood feel that desire fade. when we have no ideas, when we have no wish to pick up our tools. it can hurt, yes, but it will pass, and we will make the world brighter with out art once again.
and we must remember: we have to take breaks. we have to, or we could cause damage that leaves us unable to create. and, just as importantly: productivity does not equal value. an artist is an artist, and the amount of art or money we make does not reflect our value as an artist or as a person.
