Biography
"Hatched Friday the 13th: Lucky Black Cats"
Scroll of renaming available upon request.
Born on Friday the 13th of August 2021, this is the hatchling of two dragons who themselves were born on Friday the 13th (Dec. 13, 2019). "Lucky Black Cats" are born with special powers: upon maturity they have the ability to shape-shift into black cats who retain all of their dragon form’s intelligence and fighting abilities. Moreover, these dragons bring good luck and prosperity to your lair, safeguard travels, and ensure happy relationships between lair-mates.
Lore of Lucky Black Cats From Around The World
1. Black Cats Bless Marriages
In Japan, black cats are considered very lucky especially for single ladies, as they are supposed to bring many good suitors. In parts of England, giving a black cat to a bride on her wedding day will promise a lucky marriage. In Ireland, if a black cat rubbed against the bride on her wedding she was sure to have a long and happy marriage.
2) Black Cats Bring Good Fortune And Prosperity
In Japan, Maneki Neko (little black cats with a raised paw) draw good luck, wealth and prosperity to their owners as wells as frighten away demons, and evil energy.
Scotland has a long-standing superstition that a black cat that suddenly appears in your doorway/porch is a sign of prosperity coming. In Southern France, black cats brought you good luck if you took care of them and gave them treats.
Scottish and English superstitions held that if a black cat came to you, it was an omen of good luck, but if it turned away from you then it was an omen of bad luck. In Germany if the black cat crossed your path from left to right, then it was an omen of future good luck (but the opposite if it traveled from right to left).
In ancient Egypt, black cats were considered special and brought prosperity because they looked like the goddess Bastet.
In Ireland, if a black cat entered your home at Christmas, it meant good luck for everyone in the house and if one crossed your path on New Year’s Day, they it was an omen of luck and prosperity for the New Year.
3) Black Cats Bring Safe Travels
Throughout Europe there are many superstitions about black cats being lucky for sailors by ensuring a safe journey. Additionally, Sailors’ families also often kept black cat at home, believing its presence would assure their loved ones’ safe return.
