Biography

Subject O-2 "Blessing”
Background: This dragon arrived alone, claiming to already know about the curse. We were prepared to turn it away, expecting it to be offering a "solution" to the curse. We'd already experienced one too many coming here with the offer, and thought that would stop once Fragile permanently joined the clan. However, he assured us he wasn't here to get rid of the curse, he had just experienced multiple curses before, practically growing an immunity. He gestured to the faint but visible burn marks that patched his scales as proof, and we believed him and let him stay. He appears to know quite a bit about magic, and has been staying in the temple for now.

Blight has come to me with suspicions about this individual. This, of course, surprised me as Blight isn't exactly the kind of dragon to be suspicious of others, since it's usually the other way around. Blight claimed Blight wouldn't work anywhere near Blessing, refusing to listen to reason. Apparently practicing Blight's magic around Blessing resulted in an unsettling exchange that left Blight shaken. Once again, extremely unusual. Blight refused to explain any further, just repeating the same phrase. "He said he didn't want his job any harder than it already is." Asking Blessing about this didn't yield any helpful results.

It all happened so quickly. There was a commotion outside, early in the morning. It sounded like the crackling of fire and electricity, snarls, the sound of a fight. I was definitely not the first to run into the clearing, but I don't think anyone was. It was already occupied by two of the clan members, Blessing and the unnamed dragon, who were in the middle of what can only be called a fight to the death. It was difficult to tell who they were at first, the unnamed dragon was silhouetted in blinding lightning, crackling around its wings and in its eyes, ethereal butterflies fluttering around it. Blessing was even brighter than he had been before, consumed in a burning fire that singed his scales as runes glowed on his face. It was still dark, and the light show these two put on made it difficult to process what was even happening. Neither had seemed affected by the curse before, how could they have changed so suddenly? I am writing this from inside my study, getting it down as quickly as I can so I may run back out. I will be moving this to the unnamed dragon's entry as well.

Nobody was able to stop the fight, but it ended without any casualties. Neither were willing to go to the medical den, strangely enough. I believe... the unnamed dragon won? The way it stood in front of Blessing was that of a victor, anyway. Explanations were not given, but it seems some of the clan members have their theories. None of them have any good explanations behind them, though. I believe it is occasionally right to just let these things rest.

That's what the others expect me to say. Luckily, I happen to have learnt a little bit of magic from my research. Specifically, a form of invisible ink only visible to the writer. Do you expect me to sit here and ignore what's going on? Do you think I'll just continue reading my books and sorting my files? That's what they all think I'll do. It isn't uncommon for strange things to happen here, they always do. But not like this. I saw their wounds. I saw the flittering creatures that sewed the unnamed dragon's gashes shut when it thought no one was looking. I saw the runes on Blessing's face move. I saw them shift, change. These two are the only dragons in the entire clan that are completely unaffected by the curse. Do you really think it's possible for them to start showing symptoms at the exact same time? The others might believe so, but the two of them... the way they managed these features was too natural. It was as if this has happened to both of them before. I've had my suspicions since the beginning, but I wouldn't say anything. That unnamed dragon, it is the curse. The curse isn't just some formless being that resides here. It might have been at some point, but now? Now it walks among us. And Blessing? How does he factor in? Is he another curse? Or is he something built to destroy them? Perhaps both. I am closing off for today. I can't risk being caught.
