Biography

THE SEVENTH CARVING
Dáibhí
the beloved

A statue that seems to be running, eyes confidently forward. . .

They are standing, posed with grace. Their expression is triumphant, mouth partially ajar. Their wings, marked by the bee, are raised high above them, triumphantly. The statue's feet are poised most intriguingly. On their right, the forefoot is raised in the air, its hindfoot planted straight back on the ground. On their left, the forefoot is planted back, its hindfoot lifted forward the air. One may remark to say it looks like a horse, frozen mid-gallop. Unfortunately, the statue appears only to have one in-tact eye- one, on their left, carved of a deep, yellow topaz. The other socket is vacant, an indentation without embellishment.

An additional curiosity is the presence of both of the Two's presents: a cub, as well as an orb. Though, not in the way one may initially expect. Most remarkably, the orb is larger than most others. It is deep, milky amber, and sealed within it is the form of a cub, its small wings curled in around itself, eyes closed, sunlight reflecting through the amber and highlighting the cub's form. The placement, too, is of note. Situated beneath the haunch of the statue, it appears as though it is being protected. . .

Most incredibly, there looks to be a fine line carved into the statue, straight down from the middle of the temple, tracing the entirety of the form. Truly, the line, directly in the middle, even splits the glittering belly, and the delicately-carved tail in two, goes up the back, over the head, and meets itself again. Its purpose is mysterious, why the Two would think to trace a line down the middle of their creation. . .

-! Upon closer inspection, it is clear that this is not one statue at all, but two. The line down the middle is not a line at all, instead the marking where these two, separate halves, were brought together. Perfectly split! Why the Two may have collaborated to bring this carving into the world is most mysterious, indeed. . .

There may be an answer. . .This is the first time the Two have created an odd number of carvings. Perhaps, they wanted to bring about a statue touched by them both, equally . .Or, perhaps, a statue was begun by one, who ran out of strength, and finished by the other. . .

Regardless, this statue is a momentous, special gift. A showcase of the harmony of the Two to create something so seamless and united. A symbol of the bond they share with one another.

Surely this creation is one of a kind. . .
