Biography
N H E R V A
Clan Leader | High Priestess |
|
S P I R I T C A L L E R
Connections between history, myth, legend, and time itself are as deeply woven within her psyche as her instincts. Rarely seen outside the cavernous, labyrinthine halls of her clan, she is the keeper of her clan's secrets and findings. To incite her wrath is to call down death itself, for Nherva is not to be easily trifled with, and otherworldly allies may aid even she in the darkest of hours. Nherva is known for her quiet and morose nature, but she is noble in her bearing. She is one of the eldest dragons in the Clan, and even those that have been around for as long as she has look to her for everything, even if she may not sully her claws on petty difficulties. Life is but a roadblock to the destination she ultimately seeks after, and she seems to walk the gauntlet between the world of the living and the world of the dead. Only through perception and ritual can she truly glimpse the other side, as any living creature could, but so often does she practice that she seems to exist in both worlds, her consciousness rent between either at any given time. To some, she is insane, especially to some of her younger Clanmates who have met her and have yet to truly understand her Clan. However, to those who truly know her and follow after her ideals, she is a goddess in her own right, a creature not entirely of this world or the other. Though she is rarely seen physically, there is always a certain sort of wariness that every dragon in the Clan feels when within the confines of their sprawling lair. Some say that Nherva can be anywhere and everywhere at once if she chooses, that the very spirits of the frosty earth are her eyes and ears. Some consider it a blessing, always having watchful eyes over their nests and hoards--if so much is actually true. Others still, consider it a lack of privacy and will risk nesting and hoarding elsewhere, even if they will fight for the Clan and its territories whenever called. Either way, every dragon that has sworn fealty to the Clan has done so knowing that they have sided with a powerful ally against the beastmen in the Southern Icefields and other Clans of other Flights. |

Her obsession with the dead and the way she pushes her Clan to fight for more and more territory seems to lend credence to this rumor. Nherva celebrates and rewards her best fighters and survivors well and is not unknown to hold special celebratory ceremonies in honor of their victories before sending them out again, something many attribute as something a Plague Clan might be more apt to do. Evidence is said to further exist in how many Plague element dragons are taken into the ranks of the Clan, including her right hand dragoness, Ghost. More recently, Nherva has seemed to ally with a new sect of dragons from the lands of Plague. Necromancers have begun to swell in the ranks of the Clan. Three Necromantic Councilors and their entourages have been tentatively welcomed into the Lair. They have quickly carved out their spaces and the reason for their appearance is still widely unknown. Many Clanmates, especially the Magi Council, view the Necromancers with suspicion and distrust. But Nherva has decreed they are to be treated as Clan. Being a child of Icewarden, Nherva has a great burden on her shoulders. Fighting the Shade is one thing, containing it is another entirely. Ice Flight excels in the latter, but Plague dragons are warriors with few equals. Though not a guardian, Nherva takes her charge seriously and considers it a personal goal to be one of the strongest jailers in the Southern Icefields. Perhaps that is why she has welcomed Necromancers so quickly into the ranks of her Clan. |
