S T O R Y
Born on Acrone of the Delta Nemesis Nebula, within the industrial depths of Belhagen- a bustling city built atop a thriving mining business, and a galactic hotspot for illegal trades and gambling, Crypt was offered few options growing up. Like most kids born in the stifling, mechanic city, he was given three options- become another factory worker, find a way into the thriving entertainment business, or become one more casualty in the black market. He chose none.
At 17, Crypt said goodbye to his parents and lied his way onto a docked cargo transport ship headed for a distant solar system. Never had he dreamed of enjoying ship life, and yet he took to it like a fly to vinegar. By the time they reached their final destination, Crypt was resolute on his newfound career path. He would captain his own ship one day. And captain he did. After years of taking jobs on various ships, bouncing from system to system, he found himself on the planet Sikenid, in one of the largest, most racially diverse cities in the galaxy- Amhora. Here, Crypt landed in the underbelly of the city where he began making a name for himself, and, -accidentally- straight into the lap of the alien Ramlo- a Paladin on the run. Perhaps it was fate guiding them together. That, or sheer bad luck. Either way, Crypt found himself very suddenly hiding a renegade Paladin on the run from the Galactic Order, a group founded between the races to uphold order through the galaxy. A group, which he discovered, Ramlo just so happened to disobey enough to the point of having a galaxy-wide hit put on his head. And maybe it was sympathy and a soft heart, though more likely it was the gears in his head spinning and telling him to house the renegade before handing him in for a very large reward, regardless, Crypt agreed to help the man. And if turning him in for enough money to live the rest of his life out in luxury was his original plan, he failed miserably. As it turned out, the ex-Paladin and ship-hopper had more in common than they thought, and made for a shockingly good pair. Especially, as they learned only weeks into their partnership, when it came to getting money out of people. The two of them became like a well-oiled machine, working in perfect stride of the other to lie, cheat, and steal money from the unsuspecting and naïve. But it wasn't always enough, and eventually Ramlo -who was suspiciously onboard with murder for a former Paladin- suggested they began taking specific work to fund themselves. And Crypt, all too happy to move up from mere conmanship, agreed. After a year of hiding from authorities and taking the, often most, unpleasant jobs from local gangs and individuals looking for help with their dirty work, they were ready to set sail. Having saved enough from their jobs to purchase a small, but fast and newly released, ship, Crypt and Ramlo, along with a few others who'd joined them in the slums, left Amhora and set off for the open galaxy. Not that leaving the city also meant leaving their criminal lives. If anything, having their own ship and crew just made the transition into piracy all the more smooth and obvious. And the killers-for-hire thing? Well, that was obvious to them too, because now they had access to galaxy-wide hits, which paid far more than the little local ones back on Amhora. And although Crypt never saw bounty hunting in his future, with a partner -and teacher- as good as Ramlo, he didn't mind the shift in plans. And in turn, Ramlo was happy to leave commanding the ship and crew, along with all the piracy plans, to Crypt. They were an unlikely pair made for one another. And together they lived in excitement, far away from the law, ready to die a fiery, explosive end at each others side.
