Biography
Calypso is an aspiring geographer, an apprentice of Ice’s who also dabbles in many other hobbies. He has always looked up to others and wanted to learn their trades, since he never could pick one thing he enjoyed doing.
Back when Calypso was younger, he had been brought to the clan as an unnamed hatchling of unknown origins. On a noticeably warm day, a warmly-dressed stranger entered town, asking for a place to stay for a short while. This was when Calypso first learned one of the things he wanted to do as a job. He saw the intricate maps the stranger was carrying, the interesting garb, heard the stories he told of the Southern Icefield, and wanted to be just like Ice. When Ice had entered the clan, Calypso still had no name. The day he had asked Ice to mentor him, he also asked for a name to have. It took Ice many days to come up with a name, and at the time, Calypso was worried Ice did not care to give him a name, but as an adult, he knows it took so long because Ice wanted to make it count for the little hatchling, since he was such an important role model for Calypso.
Ice didn’t tell him this until years later, but the name Calypso had been the name of someone Ice was close with when he was younger, and they were very special to him. He wanted to give the hatchling a name special to him so, when he was older and would know of Ice’s old companion, would understand how important Calypso was to Ice, even if he did not show it often.
Calypso was always very close with Ice, and Ice practically raised him to adulthood, when they began to officially work together as a mapping team.
Adorable baby picture because I almost decided to permababy him:
