Zirith

Zirith met an angel when she was just a small hatchling. When she was half-dead.

The angel saved her. Gave her new life.

Most believe her insane. She is, perhaps, a little bit. She won't really deny that, of course. She knows what she is.

But she also knows she saw an angel that day. She didn't lose her mind to the heat. It was cracked from their touch. It was cracked the same way her scales cracked to reveal beautiful stone beneath. She was blessed by their touch. Or cursed, if you wanted to phrase it that way.

But she's sure of one thing: The angel saved her. The angel saw her suffering, and came down to save her. They gave her another chance at life.

She hopes one day to meet that angel again. Or at least an angel. To thank them. Perhaps, even, to become an angel herself. Zirith hopes desperately that this is possible. In her heart, she feels it must be true. She spends most of her time searching for some sign of them, some sign that she's not just insane.

Her memory of that day is strange and hazy. But she very clearly remembers a brightly colored entity, with many eyes. So many eyes. Certainly, she has seen dragons with many eyes, but it's not the same. They're not angels. She knows this.

Even so, she secretly wants to find a way to give herself more eyes. To make herself more like them. To become closer to being an angel. One day. One day.
