Opal is one of the original five offspring from Aun and Iniko, the founders of Gribble Hollow. All but one of her siblings are either unknown to her, or have left to fight under different deities. She was left as the head of Gribble Hollow when her parents left the lair.

As Head of Gribble Hollow, she took new wanderers and young dragons under her wing and sent them for training in the coliseum. If they proved unworthy of use to the clan, but strong in spirit, she convinced them to go fight under the Plaguebringer after they have proved to be able to fight. When she didn't like a new incomer, she would often tease them until the dragon left to fight. Fusion and Lock are the only two in the clan who were able to talk to Opal to convince her to stay nice to all clan members, whether she liked them or not.
Recently, the clan has been readjusting leadership so they have one leader, advisers from all eleven flights, and a few leaders that focus on other aspects of keeping the clan running. Opal has been designated as the Shadow Clan Consul, and will be stepping down from head as soon as a leader has been trained properly and chosen.
