Jeremias

Jeremias gazed passively at his reflection in the lake's water, taking special note of the golden marks on his face and wings. They were marks of a time since past, growing up with a crowd that wasn't exactly on the straight and narrow. Was he embarrassed or guilty of the acts that had earned him the designs, he pondered. No, came the resounding answer. His past had made him what he was and the marks were reflective of that. What, then, was he feeling? An annoyance. If the marks were a reminder, they served to remind him that he often made bad decisions that didn't end well for him. Choices that only in hindsight could have been better.

His neck lifted, turning his head away from the lake and reflection to the scene behind him. A large clearing had been ruthlessly scorched into the forest green, the trees that had moments ago burst with life now black twigs. A frown flit across Jeremias's features as he studied the ruins, regretfully caused by him. Not on purpose, no. He had stormed away from an argument in a fit of anger. Anger that had continued to boil and burn until the magic he possessed took a life of its own, creating the intense blaze. It wasn't the first time that Jeremias had accidentally lost control of his magic. With a grimace, he acknowledged it wouldn't be the last. Unfolding his wings, Jeremias took flight, leaving the past behind to try again.
