Biography

7587.png

The ocean is merciless, but its denizens need not be.
It's peaceful, underwater. Dappled sunlight makes patterns on the ocean floor, and the plant-life sways with the rhythm of the waves. The view, clear and colorful, showcases a seemingly endless expanse of seascape.

In the far distance, a massive shape glides through the water. At first, you weren't sure, but a matter of seconds make it obvious: the shape is coming towards you. Its features become more apparent in its rapid approach. This is an Imperial dragon.

Several yards away, the dragon slows. Visible against the dragon's pale ventral scales, a small creature can be seen; it had escaped your notice, before. It looks to be a fish, and from what you're able to discern, it isn't faring well. Something about its movements is unnatural -- perhaps even sickly.

The dragon ushers it into its own shadow. Upon closer inspection, you realize the fish is neither the first nor only denizen there. A teeming menagerie of aquatic animals remain close to the dragon, protected by its presence and hidden from easy sight.

'Simple prey,' explains a voice in your head. The voice is wry and masculine. You realize the dragon is staring directly at you.

'They've been abandoned by their kinds, for one reason or another,' he says. Rueful pity paints his tone.

'Isolation should be a choice, not a flag for death. In their state, they'll be eaten before that choice can be made fairly. Hence, my collection. They will travel with me until recovery, or until they tire of me. A sympathetic offering to my fellow introverts of the sea.'
