aaaaaaa General Lore

The Thing is presumed to originate from Plague, but nobody is really sure due to The Thing's ability to shapeshift and imitate any dragon or beast almost perfectly. (It's totally from Plague though)

When separated into two or more pieces, The Thing will act as multiple beings. When together in one piece The Thing will behave as one. The size of The Thing appears to have some impact on intelligence, with small, single-cell Things exhibiting less intelligent behavior than larger Things imitating a dragon or beast.

Once a dragon or beast has been assimilated, The Thing not only takes on their appearance but also their memories. This allows The Thing to imitate any living thing, enabling It to fool even those close to anyone or anything that has been assimilated. The Thing gains knowledge and physical abilities this way as well, and Things that have assimilated beings with unique features can then form them again at will. The Thing's only goal is to assimilate as many beings as possible, though It has been observed exhibiting restraint if It perceives danger that It cannot protect Itself against.

Things will react violently when They encounter flame or sufficient heat, preferring more moderate climates. This is true regardless of the form any given Thing takes on. They can handle cold temperatures but will freeze and go into hibernation if They get too cold for too long.

As far as anyone can tell, Things don't age or die of natural causes or disease, at least not in the same way everything else does.

Many Things are referred to as It or They by others but don't appear to have any actual preference Themselves. Some refer to Things by no pronouns at all, using only The Thing, The Things, Thing, or Things.

Be cautious if one is in your lair.

While nobody knows what The Thing's true form is, or if It even has one, when Things aren't imitating something else They look rather like amorphous hunks of flesh.

This is also my first time doing any coding more complicated than putting an image into a dragon bio. I found aisumoka's thread on basic coding and Starrlight's thread of Flight Rising image assets very helpful :D
