Omen is a rare case of a higher being banished from its home dimension. Not quite a diety, not quite a demon, but certainly powerful. Unfortunately that power relies an a connection to the plane it originates on - a connection now permanently closed.

Banishment from Omen's home dimension is rare - most offenses are simply rewarded with death, often repeatedly and creatively. This is still considered a kinder fate than having to adjust to a physical plane of existence where power is limited and death is permanent.

Omen soon found itself amused with the creatures of its new home. Petty squabbles for power and their constant fight for just a bit more time alive - they are interesting in ways conflicts back home never were. Oh sure, there was far more bloodshed with far fewer consequences, but the part it always enjoyed the most was riling its fellow entities up and watching the fallout. Mortals are so much less predicatble.

Until meeting Bane, regaining any form of power had never been a priority, but how could it turn away from an opportunity like that? Even if his "destiny" was revealed as a delusion, the prophecy a fever dream if not a lie - here was someone who would indulge its violent tendencies, who wouldn't bat an eyelash at its infatuation with death and decay. Might indulge it even. And if ascension was possible, well. Wouldn't hurt to be the lover and right arm of a new god.
