I miss him.
Once an extraordinary mapmaker, Empti would journey across the land of Sornieth, logging the highest peaks and traversing the grandest canyons.
But he didn't log them alone; Empti had a partner—the light to his shadow, the careful to his reckless. His partner was his life—enough to bring meaning to a world that sometimes might be unbearably cold without.

It was all Empti's fault. He knows that now.
He'd gotten impatient with his partner—a partner that could no longer keep up, desperately trying to clamber the peaks of The Cloudscrape Crags, to follow Empti, and the exhausting, rigorous pace he had set for them both.
"You rest," Empti had told him, excitement and wonder wavering in his wanderlust-fogged mind. "I'll go ahead, and come get you!"
And then he had left his partner behind, resigning him to a terrible fate.

Because...when Empti returned, he was gone. Lost somewhere, under the snow and ice. Empti never saw him again, but in his heart of hearts, he knew his beloved partner was dead. And that it was all his fault.
