Being a genius in her clan was difficult, because she often went unrecognized. Magi was overshadowed by the clever pearlcatchers and the gorgeous skydancers, eventually splitting off from her clan to make a name for herself. She struggled to get any degree of funding for her projects, scavenging from the wastes and collecting a great amount of rubble. She tinkered relentlessly until a young mirror named Dustbowl came into her path.

They immediately understood each other, they were ambitious and hungry for success. Their relationship was natural young love, and they spent several months together. Until Dustbowl was gravely injured and a dragon named Stein came into their lives to save Dustbowl. She nursed him back to health, but Dustbowl's attention was turned towards Stein.

Jealousy arose in her, and Magi eventually met another dragon. Her name was Nurse, and she was a doctor from her own clan but was rendered useless because of her neurotic behavior. This mirror quickly joined their growing pack, and administered more medical training to Dustbowl and helping Stein recover.

Despite both of them having male mates and several clutches, the two are undeniably inseparable and romantic.
