Backstory:
____________________ Growing up in a musical family, Kanade has always been interested in music. She wants to make people happy with it, yet she's caused her own father to suffer because what she does, and now finds herself so lost in her work that she rarely gives herself a break. Until the day she can make those close to her happy with her music again, she refuses to stop making it, no matter how much it hurts her. |
Kanade is a quiet, generally good mannered girl, extremely reserved but not directly unfriendly to anyone. She's extremely devoted to her work as a songwriter, often refusing to take breaks until her body gives out on her. Her work consumes her in a desire to make people happy, after having failed time and again to do so before. Seeing the problems among the members of her circle, she's trying to help them first and foremost, but as long as people can feel happier listening to what she makes, she'll be a little happier herself.
Unfortunately, she always prioritizes the happiness of others over her own. Even when making music is actively hurting her, she makes it anyway. She barely opens up about her own problems, keeping them bottled up instead of letting them out and having a genuine chance to process all the trauma she's been through. She's still just a kid, but she's incredibly lonely in a way no one her age should be. Her mother is dead, her father might as well be for all he remembers her (which is to say, he doesn't remember her at all), and she barely knows anyone her own age. She's been through a lot, and maybe it's time she finally gets a chance to take a break.

 Kanade is a strange Pearlcatcher. She has no horn, no pearl, nothing that really defines the typical traits of the breed. She's quiet and disinterested in leaving her family's otherwise empty home, except for the rare occasion of meeting with the members of her circle. Seeing her outside means one of only a few things, none of which are bad, but all of which are sporadic enough for seeing the girl to be surprising. She continues to be a musician, making songs from the hideaway of her room. Music will always be her passion, after all. Most of her neighbors barely know she exists, though, much less anyone else knowing about her. She's content to be alone most of the time, tending to her music and her flowers. |
