Eihanis
Beneath the sands of the Shifting Expanse there is a temple that laid undisturbed for years beyond count.
This lost temple was rumored to contain riches beyond measure, immense magical power, or even a forgotten deity, depending on the dragon who spoke of it.
When two adventurers sunk into a hole in the sand, they were ecstatic to realize they'd found one of the corridors of the forgotten temple. When they followed the passage they found a underground cavern brimming with life.
As they stepped into the vast cavern, radiant in the sunlight streaming in from above, dragons emerged from aged homes carved into the rock and the shade of the lush vines and shrubs clinging to the sheer walls.
But these were not dragons of flesh and bone.
Shaped by skilled but long-dead hands, these dragons were machines, forged from now-rusted metal and crumbling clay, crafted to build the temple they resided in, abandoned long ago when the structure sunk beneath the sand.
But, strange machines were these, who had began to learn as they waited below. Who, one by one, began to move and speak and form bonds, mimicking what they remembered of their makers. It was as if some dormant magic in the temple had given them life of their own.
Two of the machines stepped forward when the adventurers left, desiring to leave the temple and discover the wonders of a world that had changed immensely since they last beheld it.
These two machines became a vanguard, inspiring more of the timid machines to follow and join the great dragon societies of the surface.
