Biography

Antigone was never a particularly friendly dragon. She usually kept to herself as far as clan life was concerned. She always had a strong interest in spells and magic from the time when she was a hatchling. At the time the clan was just starting out, and there wasn’t really an expert she could talk with. Although now she and Mythal, the head of magical knowledge for the clan, are very close.

Antigone was an unusual guardian because she never found her charge. None of the clan pressed the issue, the only other guardian around was Nero and he was more of the “mind your own business” type. Then, one day, Antigone vanished. She didn’t tell anyone where she was going or even mention she was leaving. The clan searched for her but to no avail.

Several weeks later, Ultion was out on his usually patrols at the very edge of the reef when he saw her appearing from the murky deep waters. She was not the same though, something had definitely happened. There were strange rune writings on her wings and a few growths on her body that looked almost like eyes. She swam with ease and appeared to be able to breathe underwater despite not having gills. She greeted Ultion normally as if nothing had happened. When questioned about what she found, she refused to say. The clan generally believes that she found her charge somewhere in the deep waters, and by not revealing it, she believes she’s protecting it.

Despite her change in physical appearance, she remained mostly the same. If she gained any other new abilities, she keeps them to herself. Although now she could usually give hatchlings a fright just by looking at her, which she seemed to get a cruel enjoyment out of.

She still does vanish from time to time, likely to check on her secret. But Pasuri has insisted that she at least let someone know from now on.
