Swank thought it was purely, entirely idiotic and totally an August thing to do when he came home one day, dragging a giggling Candy with him and declaring that they'd just gotten married. He was even more sure that of course, of course he did this when she said her name and that she was a dancer.

The fact that they've remained married and seem perfectly happy is really, a feat unto itself.

Swank has idly noticed, and Jesse has most definitely noticed and it always brightens her day to see that Candy may not be exactly as dumb as her giggly party girl persona would have you believe. She's not the brightest to be sure, but the girl absolutely does have more cunning than she'd ever let on. For one she flatters and fawns on August while spending a good chunk of his money behind his back, or stashing it away lest he spend it. She's slowly over the years built herself quite a collection of luxury items and products, and expects it to stay that way dear, I just need it. She's also quite content to let his eye occasionally wander as long as it wanders back to her eventually, and of course it always does.

One could call it on either side if August is using Candy more, or Candy August, but really they both seem perfectly content with whatever strange arrangement they've concocted. Maybe they're equally happy with the give and take nature of it.

She takes absolutely no notice of any of The Quarter or City drama, and refuses to get involved with any of the dirty work.

The dirty work is boring.

Sure if he ever really got into trouble she'd probably roll her eyes, sigh, and call Jesse but she does truly care about him. She doesn't know of anyone else she could have this much fun with, after all.

Swank/Jesse
Despite their very obvious differences Candy thinks of Swank and Jesse almost exactly the same- they both work with her husband and will stab people if you ask nice enough or give a good story.
