Poe's whole body seems to be suspended in a state of crystallisation, he's not fully changed and the process seems to have halted. He feels no pain from his changes taking them as just something that has happened but it has given him a rather melancholy view of the world.

The patches of crystals oddly show nothing but swirling shadows beneath Poe's scales, some believe that as he's a dreameater they are actually seeing nightmares he has consumed.
