As guardian spirits of the Starwood Strand, Starsoul and Woodsheart love all their children equally -- including the trees. These veilspun have a unique connection with both the sky above and the forest below, a talent for the Arcane, and a great respect for the natural -- and magical -- world around them.

Rustymane is the family disappointment. He doesn't really care about trees or magic at all. Rather, he's desperate to live among other dragons who aren't related to him, to be part of a society that will find his charisma and humor appealing instead of pointless distractions. He's not quite sure what he'll do once he actually gets into the company of other dragons, but he can't wait to find out -- and neither can his parents, who don't much like having the more boisterous Rustymane around.
