Mistysnow was something of a rebel without a cause for most of his adolescent years, and some of his adult years. He saw life as a battle between the weak and the strong, and if he was stronger, that meant he was entitled to everything. His parents tried their best to wean him out of the mindset, but he only clung to it with more and more fervor. That continued until the day he met a newcomer to FogClan, Blackcloud. He saw the sleep-deprived Skydancer and labelled them an easy target--in other words, weak. He liked the baubles they wore, not caring when Blackcloud explained the jewels were all they had left of their parents. Mistysnow wanted those gems, so he would have those gems.

Except when he tried to bully Blackcloud into giving him their prized possession, they just... laughed in his face. Toothily and gleefully. I have Seen things that are more wretched and twisted than the darkest, most terrifying nightmares you've ever experienced, they'd sneered. You don't have an ember's chance in the sea when it comes to intimidating me. Mistysnow was outrageously offended. How dare this outsider tell him what to do? He'd show them how powerful he could be!

It took him a few weeks before he realized that he was no longer trying to threaten the other Skydancer, but was instead trying desperately to get their attention. He wanted them to laugh because of him, not at him like they had been doing. He went to his parents with no small amount of shame, and softly asked them what they suggested he do. First, they told him to change his attitude, and this time, he actually tried to listen. It wasn't easy--old habits die hard--but it was all worth it when Blackcloud dipped their head in his direct with an almost warm-sounding, "Thanks."

The other thing his parents told him was that if he wanted to be their friend, he had to stop making everything about himself. That... took significantly longer to get a handle on. Ultimately, his breakthrough came when he found Blackcloud sitting alone by a stream, breathing sharply through gritted teeth, clutching their head and muttering to themself. He sat down beside them, careful to make enough noise for them to hear his approach, and just... sat with them. When they reached out a paw to grab his, he let them, squeezing back whenever their grip tightened. He desperately wanted to speak, but something told him that Blackcloud needed silence.

Months later, he finds himself playing a similar role, but rather than stressed breathing, Blackcloud clings to his paw with their talons, shredding his skin as they scream in terror and confusion. He feels just as helpless as he did a year ago, but this time, there's no advice his parents can offer that would help him. All he can do is be there for Blackcloud when the vision-caused migraines strike them.
