Rat is one of the hosts of the Belowroot Colony, as well as the lead healer. He once traveled with his ex-wife, Paige, as a traveling doctor; however, when they split, he met Acolytus and Elbereth and settled down with them. He now helps manage the Colony from behind the scenes.

Rat is standoffish, quiet, and mildly pathetic. He's skittish but, despite not looking very intimidating, powerful with his magic. He's difficult to get along with and very stubborn, but very skilled at what he does.
