Biography

Cyril holds no faith in the deities. Despite the immense power they hold, she views them as just as flawed in character as any other dragon. She was born to exalt soldiers to be in the Order of Flame and blade, and was blessed for their selflessness with her primal eyes and knack for fire magic. However, Cyril never felt any connection to her god nor any desire to serve the Flamecaller. Her clan found themselves perplexed by her behavior and her identity as a whole, and spent much of her childhood years trying to shape her into a clanmember suited for their ranks. At first, she was made to tend to the forges. She was then an imperial, and her immense size and immense power meant she could function as a lesser forge herself. Cyril hated this. She didn't like feeling as if she being used by others, and she never had passion for metalworking. It was uncomfortable and stifling, and she didn't want to craft weapons for a god. And while she is attracted purely to male dragons, she also did not want to become a mother to produce hatchlings for exalting.

They attempted a more direct route with her when it came to magic- but despite Cyril's natural power, she had a hard time learning the techniques and held no interest in cultivating a power that was already something to behold without practice. Next, her clanmates attempted to place her in a more feminine role- as a dancer in honor of their deity. While Cyril quite enjoyed dancing, she wanted to dance for herself and not for a deity, and she didn't enjoy the heavy and flashing garments traditional for this craft. She didn't want to be forced into a mold she was never made to fit, a mold shaped purely by other equally flawed dragon's perceptions. Sphalerite and her other former clanmembers regarded her as a child, and her beliefs as a phase she'd never grow out of. When she came of age and still refused, the clan exiled her. They had little space to tend to other dragons, especially those who refused to fight and refused to serve their cause. With her parents having long been exalted and her clan uncaring and dismissive of her thoughts and feelings, Cyril felt little loss. While the world was new to her, she held hope that there would be other dragons like her and other dragons willing to care about her. To cement this change, she changed her form to that of a Pearlcatcher and hasn't changed since.

While Cyril had been raised in a clan full of zealotry and conflict, she had no desire for such things. She had always wished to live her life as a farmer- living a calm life off of the land in the solitude of nature. While the nature territories were infamously harsh on outsiders, she believed the Sanctuary of the Wilds could not only live up to its name, but provide her with the land needed to prosper in farming. Despite serving the Gladekeeper himself, Irwin was sympathetic. Even though he'd known his whole life he was to be an acolyte, he could put himself in her shoes and understand how stifling that was. He was happy to provide her a place in clan as well as the land she desired.

Cyril was beyond grateful, and to this day sees Irwin and Shiloh more akin to friends and parents than her original clan ever was. Cyril spends her days tending the fields, enjoying every bit of the patience required to care for and watch her plants prosper. She doesn't mind getting dirty in a duty she has chosen and she still adores. Cyril grows many kinds of edible nutritious plants and in such high quantities that they're often distributed to other clans. Her favorites of course, being the row of tea plants near her den. She never thought herself a tea dragon until she began experimenting with these plants to create a satisfying brew. They are beloved by both her and Bonsai. Bonsai was at first a farmhand hired by Irwin to help tend the chickens, geese, and ducks on their farm. But the two quickly became very endeared to eachother. Cyril loved his soft and down to earth nature, and more than appreciated his help on the days she couldn't keep up with her farmwork. And the same is true of her- their relationship is built on a healthy respect for one another and a desire to always give the other someone to lean on.

While indifferent towards birds at first, Cyril grew to love them as much as she did him. The two only bonded over their connections more, and they tend to be a very physically affectionate couple. One would never expect someone so standoffish and cold on the outside as Cyril to be so warm with Bonsai, yet few in the clan are surprised given his personality. It was also Bonsai's idea that they open a restaurant together. The choice was unanimous, and the two formed a small, humble structure within the clan's center. The restaurant is known most for its breakfasts- handmade tea boiled to a perfect temperature by fire magic and pastries made from the eggs of their free-roam chickens.

Yew, Cyril's Deadwood Strangler is another creature that has journeyed with her. Yew was once a creature dragged in from Coliseum exploits. While they were happy to escape the clutches of the shade-touched mimics, they still didn't feel close with dragons and their obscenely powerful deities. That is where they connected with Cyril. She wasn't like the other dragons Yew had become acquainted with, and was strangely understanding for a race of creatures that slaughered beastclans. They in turn grew to understand her, and grew angry at her former clan's attempts to convert and change her. When she left, so did they. Yew now spends a peaceful time on their farm, often curled protectively around Cyril's claws when she sleeps. Yew also has their own duties- in keeping rodents from their stores akin to how any good mouser would.
