Biography

”Well hello, uh, who are you? Not from me old clan I hope..”

Familiar: Blackwing Croaker

When Kain was a young hatchling, he was quickly brought out of his nest and out of town into a large, dark forest. His parents were well known thieves in their town and were always in hiding, but they were compassionate and wanted only the best for their child. The clan had rioted about the thieves having a child in town, believing that he would end up being a thief himself. Therefore, the parents took Kain far away to the edge of a forest across the sea, on the edge of the Wind territory.

He lived only a few days alone, walking endlessly through the seemingly infinite trees, trying to find a way home. He did not remember the way to his clan, as he was asleep when they took him away, and his wings were not strong enough yet to take him across the sea quite yet.

One day, a larger pink Fae was flying slowly through the woods, humming quietly to itself. Kain spotted it and didn’t know who it was, so he hid behind a small rock and watched as it picked flowers and collected seeds from the area. A looming shadow followed over her, and only after she began to fly away did Kain see it was a gigantic guardian! He ducked down low to avoid being seen, and worried the pink Fae was going to be hurt. He peeked up a moment later to see the Fae hand the Guardian the flowers and seeds. It put the plants into a tiny basket as the Fae flew towards the rock Kain was at. He ducked once again and attempted to burrow under the rock, but failed, since he was not good at digging, and couldn’t lift the heavy rock. Suddenly, he heard the sound of a high Fae voice that reminded him of his memories listening to his mother discuss taking him away. “Hey, I saw you! You’re so small, are you a hatchling?” The voice came closer. Kain was worried something would happen to him but the pink Fae only smiled and pulled him up. “Hey, what are you doing in the forest so far from a town? Don’t you have parents?”

Kain simply shook his head and pulled away from her, pressing low to the ground. She turned to the Guardian behind her and smiled, saying something quietly to him. His face stayed almost completely still as he nodded silently, except a little glimmer in his eyes when the Fae spoke to him. Kain watched as the Fae picked up a large blueberry from the basket and step towards him, offering food to Kain. He took it hesitantly and nibbled on it. He quickly began scarfing it down, happy to have something sweet to eat. The pink Fae spoke again.

“Well, little one, you seem happy to eat! If you want, we could let you live in our clan for as long as you like! We have a garden and we grow blueberries like that one all the time! And you could live in a real home, not some woods!” The offer sounded good, although Kain wasn’t sure how others would take having the child of thieves in their clan. He nodded and explained why he was there in the woods, at least everything he knew himself, and Candy introduced herself and Shadow. Because of his wings not being strong enough to fly a long time, Shadow carried Kain and Candy on the fly back so Candy could begin talking about how the clan works. Kain learned the delicious berry he ate was grown in a garden near an empty plot in town that no one knew what to do with. Candy agreed to let Kain live there, and he offered to help in the garden some days so he could help feed other dragons.

Nowadays, Kain is very reserved with most but for a few close friends, Candy included. He rarely talks to those who he doesn’t fully trust, since he worries someone will recognize him from the past clan. He spends most of his days in his lair, a small secretive home hidden behind a large store that only Kain and the clan leaders Candy and Shadow know the secret of. It is very comfortable with plush carpets and soft couches, and Kain lives well with daily food deliveries [WIP]
