Carbuncle
Cryptid Origins:
It's unclear how Gander came to be in Sornieth in the first place. Carbuncles are generated around areas where mineral deposits and lay lines intersect under the right conditions, but not in Sornieth. They have some intellect and primitive language skills but you could never teach one to have a job or go school. When Artair was offered a carbuncle as payment for a fortune-reading, he said yes not even knowing what it was. He brought it back to The Observatory still not knowing what it was. Long story short, Gander managed to grab a hold of a skydancer scroll and activate it. It's still a mystery how he managed. The staff at The Observatory had no choice but to take care of him and teach him how to be a proper dragon. Gander's thoughts on the matter are, "I don't feel that different at my core, the only change I feel is that my ability to focus has greatly improved".

Notes: ➵ The gem in his forehead shattered and became the shale opal that covers him. ➵ Sometimes other dragons catch him whispering to rocks. When confronted about this, he denies it. ➵ Most people love minerals for their beautiful colours, Gander prefers more earthy hues. |

Coliseum Notes: The clan needed an Earth Mage, and Gander stepped up. He's naturally talented with magic so it was a good fit. He doesn't spend that much time in the coli, he likes knowing how to fight but hates actually doing it. |
