"Are you mocking me, Dante?!"
Registered Devil May Cry Fandragon He has found her again. In this cold, empty cave. The presence in his head; the soul of a demon so ancient he cannot understand her words, only the vague feelings she projects to him. Finally you have returned to me. Stone-cold relief is what he feels at this, in place of the voice, sound and melody; in place of the unfamiliar and haunting utterance of the words that meant something to Yamato. Yes. Yes, I have returned... For good. He thinks and picks up the sword, its weight oh so familiar to him, even after all these years. The only thing different are his own feelings. No longer does he obsess over her. He has found his mate now and the sword doesn't need to be anything else but that. A sword. A trusted fate dealer. Now...he could protect his mate and any future hatchlings again. This time, with everything he had.

(After having been stolen by Sparda from his original nest, along with Dante, somehow the two eggs hatched at the exact same time. Sparda did not tell Eva wether the two were from the same nest or not and she did not bother asking; they were their hatchlings as far as Eva was concerned. She - or Sparda - did not mind. Not until years later, without any forewarning the twins started to show signs of interest in each other...) As the 'twins' grew up they started their own paths but were still called together by their birthright as the guardians of Gates of Babylon. Vergil's path to guardianhood was just as violent as Dante's, maybe even more so. Vergil finally got his priced sword Yamato from Sparda - named in honor of his deceased 'sibling' - when he came of age. The young dragon was estathic and would not part from her for weeks on end. Yamato was his constant companion to the point where Vergil would only speak to Yamato. And when Vergil would show back up, he'd act very possessively towards Yamato when Dante would try to steal her. Vergil's possessiveness over Yamato may have caused some jealousy in Dante as now his brother's attention was not on him any longer. Vergil became estranged from his family altogether in his late teen years and decided to leave to live on his own. Vergil would slowly start to obsess over his sword more and started a search for a particular power that could turn objects into dragons; he wanted Yamato as his mate and had heard that such transformation was possible. Years later without any results and one lost Yamato later, he returned from his journey. To Dante, he had become somewhat...darker and his younger twin did not recognise Vergil anymore. The skydancer was melancholic about the loss of Yamato and would often explode in fury when Dante would try to get closer to him and find out what was wrong. Another year later Vergil and Dante’s relationship was pretty much mended as much as it could be. Maybe a bit too much in Eva’s opinion but after a certain happening, Sparda revealed that they had indeed been stolen as eggs from different nests; far from each other as a means of preventing alerting anyone on an egg snatcher; a single egg going missing was a possibility on anyone’s nest and not that uncommon. Now, the two of them together? That sparked an idea; the lineage needed continuation and who to be a better pair to continue after Sparda and Eva than Vergil and Dante? Thus the two were wedded not soon after. But Vergil could not shake off the feeling that he still needed to find Yamato -now for something completely different though. He needed to be able to protect Dante and the gates. He was the heir; it was what he was supposed to do now. Thus left Vergil, for another year to hunt Yamato from the ends of Sornieth. |
