PERSONALITY For the stars seem to glare from their perches above, and the night seems poised to strike, all deep shadows and boiling wrath. Nary a step may be taken in this forsaken place, for the night is Alive and the night is Angry. Volatile. And the night writhes in disgust as one dares gaze upon its splendor, and the night Hates. The stars, products of the night, do not Hate. The stars instead Watch, and deliver blessings upon acolytes of the night. And the stars have come to earth. And the stars walk amongst us. ABOUT Penumbra is a dragon that most inhabitants of Silverveil have only encountered through their dreams, as a many-eyed shadowy figure drifting at their edge of their vision. Being a reclusive dragon, Penumbra prefers to learn of their clanmates through their dreams, often passing through with the intention to merely watch. Sometimes, however, Penumbra interferes with a dream, particularly nightmares. They can be encountered in the waking world as well, in the dark shade of the everglow trees that mark the edge of Silverveil to prevent newcomers getting lost in the expanse of the Realm of Dreamers. The eternal twilight of Silverveil allows Penumbra to move freely with no worried of their form dissipating, but they still find comfort in the darkness, and only ever venture out for their weekly tea times with the Heavens. Penumbra, much like the rest of the Heavens, bestows gifts upon the dragons in Silverveil. They favour astronomers, nocturnal dragons, and those with an innate curiosity for the horrors within the Night Realms. Those blessed by Penumbra are often referred to as the Startouched, and their gifts are always welcomed. The most recent Startouched was a once-blind orphaned imperial who Penumbra took pity on, and thus the child was granted the gift of the Seer, restoring his sight and allowing him to read the future in the stars. He has since grown and left Silverveil, and Penumbra wonders if perhaps it is time for a new Startouched to join the ranks. |
