______ Cold. Emptiness. Void. Lethe was lost, lost somewhere free of warmth or colour. A cool grey haze floated around them, and their feet stood in a shallow, chilled river. Death. Lethe was beyond the veil. But no! They were not ready to go! Their soul struggled against the slow, relentless tug of the river, struggled and called and resisted.

______ And help came. Korvax heard the cry of this lost soul and wrapped them in his power. The next few moments were a confusion of light and swirling colours. And heat. Oh, the glorious heat of life! Lethe was reborn, and they would not waste this second chance.

______ Lethe remembered too much. The screams, the clash of steel on steel… the sounds of battle chased him through his dreams. He had wanted to be reborn, to taste the heat of life again, but was this the cost? He had no idea life here would be so strange. The body he was in was small, tiny even, his voice higher pitched, his scales a deep red. And his memories, so tattered. He couldn’t even remember what his name had been.

______ Lethe, named for the river of oblivion. He almost longed for its frigid embrace, if only to still the nightmares. But no. Returning now meant death, and he had no intention of giving up this second chance. He would train, become a warrior once more, and he would discover the mysteries of his past.
