*saddened hum, followed by an angry hiss*

The crimson sun was setting at last, fading the land into silent darkness. BlackDust and Sierra were fleeing the site of a furious Clan clash, the memories still blazing in their young minds. Their parents, friends, siblings, cousins... All of them, gone. The sun reminded them of the fires, and they were relieved when it finally disappeared.

BlackDust's own sister had been in the heat of the battle. The last time he saw her, she had been hanging from the mouth of a Guardian, while Sierra urged him to run.

They were pursued for a while, but were eventually deemed not worth the chase. Now, as the stars lit the sky, they searched for a place to rest. Sierra found a small den, hidden under a log covered in mushrooms that sparkled like blue diamonds. The two crawled in and slept for the night.
