Flying unusually high on his way to a delivery, a flash of light caught in the corner of his eye. When ******* turned his head up to look, he is struck by a true anomaly. Land and vegetation, hidden by the clouds in the sky? This is something to investigate!

******* Veers upward, wings beating hard and gasping for breath as the air thins. Dragons were never meant to soar this high up. His destination seems further away than when he started. But something compels him to continue. He has to see this perfect world. He must.

Finally, *******'s lack of air reaches his brain, and he falls unconscious mid-flight, dropping like a stone to the ground thousands of leagues below.

When he wakes, unbelievably, it is within the lush paradise he sought. Previous worries and parcel forgotten, ******* explores this strange landscape. The air smells sweet, the sun and moon wheeling impossibly together overhead. The heady aroma of the air clouds his senses, and time looses meaning in this fantastical place. He soon forgets his name. He soon forgets the lands below. And as he consumes the fruits of the land, his body changes without him noticing, lost in the haze as he is.

What once was dark scales and spikes becomes pale fur, striped by the dappled sunlight. Leather wings split again and again, sprouting feathers. Eyes that watch the stars wheel in the sunlight grow on feather and fur alike.

Hours, minutes, eons pass as Gabriel prances and plays within Heaven. The land and winds sing a song only he can hear, and he sings along in a tongue incomprehensible to all but the land and his kin. Soon enough, the land hungers, and beckons its next unsuspecting victim. Gabriel adds his voice to the haunting melodies.
