I'm a Lava Brindle! Created by alchemists inspired by Baldwin, they instead discovered a goop that changed their bodies and minds, redirecting them to the Ashfall Waste, leaving their cursed goop behind.

Deep below in the caverns of the great furnace, there were dragons that wanted to learn the secrets of baldwin. What made him so good at his craft, could they repeat his work, if not improve it. They worked for days upon end. Spying on Baldwin as he worked, working on brews themselves. There were many piles of grey powder, nothing like what Baldwin makes. They simply dumped it into a corner. It was just powder after all, what use was it to them. After months, maybe years of brews they finally got something! It wasn’t powder, it was this strange liquid that turned into goop when touched. The dragon in charge of this brew got excited and rushed off the tell the others.

However, as they went, it caused a breeze that sent that now large pile of grey powder mixed with fire rock dust towards and into the pot. The dragons came back unaware and they all touched the liquid. It did turn to goop, but it also began to cover their bodies. They tried hard to pull and scratch it off to no avail. These dragons, big, small, fire, water, wind, shadow, were changing. They turned into bogs, like Baldwin's legendary bog scroll. They didn’t look like themselves as a bogsneak though, they turned this grey with a red blend throughout their body with these orange glowing veins showing.

They did not know what went wrong and never would as their mind began to fade about what they once was and what they tried to do. These new dragons went back up to the surface, seeing the large fire pits and the grand volcano. We must be fire dragons, loyal to the flamecaller, we must find a clan so we can craft and create for her, they thought as they went on their way. The pot and the powder left behind many feet below, no one would ever try and copy Baldwin again.

Then many moons later came a new dragon breed thought to be lost with time, Veilspuns.
Exploring the many new things the world had to offer, some stumbled across the old unground lab of the dragons before them. The pot was still bubbling, still holding the special potion that changed those unfortunate souls. Curious and brave the Veilspuns tried out this potion, it tasted rather sweet and warm. To their surprise it began to change them too, their colours, their genes, it reminded them of a beautiful rock formation with specks of lava dotted on them. Taking a liking to their new look they left, making sure to keep the pot hidden from now on. No one had to know of this new potion, it would be their little secret.
