WAVEWING

___________

A water subspecies by Sehti

Banner source

Water Flight Subspecies Project

The scales of these silent giants are covered in patterns that blend seamlessly into the lights and shadows cast by the Sea of a Thousand Current's dancing waves.

While they can fly, they much prefer using their wings to swim in open waters, feeding on schools of small fish. Due to their size, they are often solitary, though some will bond with flocks of smaller dragons and let them follow them around, swimming under the protection of their wings, or perching on their backs when they float to the surface to bask. They spend their whole life in the water if possible, rarely taking flight as a last resort, but are clumsy on land, and do not walk well. If beached, a Wavewing will likely just slither back to the water, casting a wave to carry them back to the sea.

Wavewings do not like fighting. Moving in other ways than a calm glide is hard for them, and they are not high energy, nor aggressive. The most they will do is use their breath to invoke water magic around them, weaponizing the powerful currents they will also seldomly use as means of transportation.

They do not have a lair and while some will always patrol the same waters, others prefer a life of constant movement. This makes it rare for them to be part of a proper Clan, unless the Clan in question is made of the smaller dragons following them around. As they age, it is said they seek out deeper and deeper waters to make their home - the smaller, livelier youth swimming with the surface waves, while long forgotten ancients roam the depths.
