Children of Carthach and Dairine aren’t born - they’re made. Like their parents before them, they’re shaped out of latent elemental magic, but this time, they were created on purpose. After centuries of existence, the two nature spirits have learned how to manipulate the magic that suffuses Sornieth to create new life.

Shaped like a dragon, but unmistakably fey, any hatchling of theirs is uncomfortable for mortal dragonfolk to be around. Most don’t care, more interested in their own goals than conforming to the expectations of those around them, but some few children become experts at adapting instead. No matter what, they all have a powerful connection to the nature and earth magics that gave them form, and no one, not even their parents, know what they will become.

Most of Dairinne and Carthach’s fae offspring are able to deal with dragonfolk, and some even manage to successfully blend into and exist in mortal society. Fewer still have a passion for it, but ever since he was newly formed, Gwydion has longed to belong to that life instead. The days seem more vibrant with dragonfolk - there are festivals to celebrate and parties to be had, foods to try and trinkets to gather. In comparison, the life of a forest fey seems dull and uneventful. He doesn’t want to follow his parent’s footsteps in guile and trick, so he’s hatched a plan to leave. The next lost traveler he’ll offer a deal - escape from one of his parent’s or sibling’s step-twisting spells in exchange for the lessons in being a mortal. Now all he has to do is wait.
