- Son of two farmers and went off on his own to go frontiering and find his own land to tame
- is a abnormally good hunter and fisherman for a tundra
- strange way of talking, makes coatl like whistles and songs to communicate feels far more comfortable speaking this way, he's bilingual
- Met his boyfriend Balto while he was out wandering a vagabond he just always kept running into - whos scent became so recognizable to him they struck up a friendship over years and inevitably when Barley settled into (clan name) he sought out his old friend to invite him
