The music calls to everyone who chooses to stay with the Killjoys. In Jukebox's case, he had found only a shallow sort of commitment through the Gaoler orders. Instead, the songs of the Banescales called to him. The Southern Icefield cast him away, for there was no place for music in the forbidding halls of the Fortress of the Ends. Instead, the self-named Jukebox set out to explore his native plague lands. But as with all dragons who strike out on their own, the wastes were his greatest enemy. The screaming winds tore at his shaggy mane and the rotting ground threatened to swallow him alive. Every breath he took ate at his lungs. He felt his breath coming harder and sharper as the rot started to overtake them. Then, the laser show of the Killjoy concerts called out to him from the horizon. There was a place where the putrid air gave way to a fresh breath. There was a clan who would celebrate Jukebox's devotion to music. The wind carrying the strains of their melodies was calm and fresh. Jukebox followed the lights, cobbling together a makeshift radio to follow the caravan from campsite to campsite. When he finally crested the hill to find the Killjoy Camp, his story was brought around to the DJs. They broadcast his dogged pursuit of the music to the airwaves, and Judas rebranded him to Juke Box Hero. Hero runs the roadie crew now, his never-flagging strength now devoted to blasting the music that saved him across the sky, where the clearings in the clouds match the stars in his eyes. I suddenly remembered how much Jukebox Hero absolutely slapped, and decided to scrap my Hanahaki fanfic trope-based Site-lore-compliant lore in favor of new lore about this Absolutely Fantastic dragon.
