Starling is by far the youngest of the city mages, and she feels it every time she speaks to them. They all seem so sure of themselves. She is... not.

Actually, Starling can hardly keep up! Aurous is constantly asking him for this and that- make this grow faster, make that grow prettier, speak to the flock of sparrows that keeps pooping on the veranda-

It's all too much. She doesn't have the magic to keep everything maintained here! And she really does have a pretty impressive amount of magic. Animals gravitate to her, and plants sprout unbidden between her claws. She's strong. Aurous still manages to demand too much of her power.

Thank the Gladekeeper for Luxor, though. Whenever she sees Starling overexerting, she steps in for her with an elegant swish of her tail and a muttered, "Aurous, really?"

Qizon looks out for him, too. Fuchsia's private, but friendly. The other mages keep Starling sane.

Starling is a generally cheery but often-frazzled dragon. His affinity for animal-communion Nature magic is exceptional.

But more than anything, Starling is fast. She's a quick, nimble flyer, light on her feet and even lighter on her wings. Her special affinity for animals is especially strong with birds. She likes to join their flocks and fly in big, silent circles to decompress when she's been especially overworked.

Lately, Sterling's persistent flirting has been cutting into Starling's flight-time, and rejecting those advances is basically a personal project by now. Like, maybe Starling should just be flattered? Sterling is pretty fancy and important. But Starling's so busy, he can hardly even consider flirting.

Mostly, she just wants to do well. She's one of the youngest in her family- actually only a year or two older than her nieces. There's a lot riding on her to learn her trade fast. Her older siblings and mother are all important figures in the clan and outer swamp, powerful and well-liked, and Starling just wants to earn her keep. She pointedly ignores the fact that Aurous is taking complete advantage of this desire.

He has it all under control.
