Nebulaste

The daughter of a hostage prince and a frightened research scholar, Nebulaste was raised in fear. Dread soaked into her bones since hatching, the ever-looming terror that the mistress of the cult into which she'd been born would send her off to the platform of exaltation. Nothing could compare to the fear she felt radiating off her mother whenever the topic was broached, especially by the leader herself.
As the resident scholar on call to the cult leader, her mother held some sway over their treatment, but the horror of accidentally angering the mistress on high pervaded every moment of interaction. Because of this, she developed a tremor at an early age, along with several nervous tics. Her mother sought to hide them, not out of shame, but out of the all-consuming danger of the coffee cult's megalomaniacal mistress noticing, shipping her away to the exaltation block.
Imperfect offspring would not be tolerated.
So she learned to hide the twitches, the sudden take-offs as her wings activated on their own. Playing them off as hyperactivity, she bonded closely with another dragon in a similar position as her. She received treatment, in secret, in the form of special teas and tinctures to control the sudden spastic movements that arced like lightning through her being.
Hiding herself became second nature. She grew to tamp down any feelings of resentment to the situation until one day, as the fear boiled over, she snapped. Gathering up her meager possessions and leaving behind a cryptic note for her mother, she left the cult behind in the dead of night with only enough provisions and masking tea to make it to the next camp she found. To the next town, the next settlement. Thusly, her search for a truly accepting home began.
