Columba came to be when her father, a traveling astronomer, took up roost in the Behemoth to chart the stars above. Each evening he would climb up its massive branches and map the sky; he did not have the tools of the Arcanist and his telescope, but he loved them regardless, and wanted to name each pattern like a story and not in the clinical way the god called them. His lonely midnight presence stirred the Gladekeeper who spoke to him in human form — was the foliage beneath his feet not worth the same adoration as the galaxies? Columba was born from their union and raised deep within the Shrieking Wilds, where she discovered her magic to turn anything into more of the Gladekeeper's splendor. It became her passion to turn anything faded into something new again. She would transform dead trees, dried grass, wilted florals. Then she began to work her talent on deceased critters and beasts within the Wilds. They would be immortalized into a bushel of flowers or a sapling tree to live again in another life. As she gained a reputation among the Gladekeeper's clans, Columba began receiving requests for burials. Old clan leaders could become massive oaks that forever guarded their homes, or a garden of strawberries to feed the ones they loved the most. And for those who were clanless and lost — she took them back to her home where the Wilds meet the Gladeveins, and tucked their roots into her Garden Beyond Time.
Columba leads a rather isolated existence, though she finds comfort in her flora and the rustle of the Gladekeeper's voice on the wind. Sometimes she comes across her half-sister who guards the Labyrinth's life, though their relationship is more polite rather than familial. Most recently she's been hosting a voyager who has followed her mother's trail to the Garden. The stranger wields an axe and the dangerous power to wilt all plantlife, though her feelings and grief fascinate Columba: she is passionate, and what made Columba realize her garden could never feel as alive as dragonkind.
Columba's divine guide is Saros the swamphunt kelpie, a stallion covered in reeds who lives in a pond at the center of the Garden. He is a guardian of Columba's creations, though is wary of those who would lead Columba from her purpose.
