Biography
Quote:
In the back of the infirmary on one of the medical cots, an Obelisk lies bundled in fur blankets, watching the proceedings in the infirmary with a tired look on his face.
OTZI
MEDICAL ANOMALY HE/HIM, BISEXUAL Otzi is a permanent patient of the infirmary, one Doc insists on staying in the medical ward at all times for both the purpose of studying the physiology of multigaze dragons and to try and figure out a bizarre anomaly--how, on Sornieth, Otzi is somehow always frigid to the bone, and that the cold would be something he as an Ice dragon finds uncomfortable. Otzi is a dragon of few words, and those few words consist of "I'm" and "cold". When questioned about his mutligaze mutations, compared to the other multigaze dragons in the lair, Otzi seemingly has no comment on them and no thoughts about how they make him feel or affect his life. Otzi was found petrified in solid ice within the Southern Icefield as a hatchling, specifically by Matilde, who at the time was on a trip to meet with other members of her kin living in the other lands of Sornieth, escorted by Cleopatra and Melonhead. Matilde picked up the scent of her kin and traced it to an Ice nest that had been abandoned, for what looked like a long time, despite Obelisks only emerging recently. It was within an ice floe near the abandoned nest site that Otzi was found, frozen solid in the ice. Matilde theorized he was thrown into the sea of the Southern Icefield for his eye mutations, but with no sign of his parents or even much of his original nest left intact, that is merely a theory Matilde stubbornly clings to. The trio of travelers managed to claw Otzi out of the ice and take him home, where he was, by all accounts, assumed to be dead, as even an Ice dragon likely couldn't survive being frozen solid at such a young age. But to everyone's surprise, after Matilde passionately insisted Doc not give up on him, Otzi awoke after spending most of his childhood comatose, to the surprise of every dragon in the lair. He still struggles with basic motor functions at time, having a permanent limp and slow, stuttering movements, but the main effect from his being frozen that has carried over is how Otzi continues to feel ice cold, even as an Ice dragon with tolerance to cold and even with the lair being in the Scarred Wasteland where it is, really, never cold. |
Otzi has spent nearly all of his childhood comatose and even now hardly leaves the infirmary on Doc's request, but he does enjoy visitors, and feels bad that he often does nothing but complain to anyone around him about the aching chills in his bones. He is always wrapped up in blankets, furs and sweaters to stave off the cold, to little effect. His closest friends are Matilde and Quasi, as Matilde has taken great interest in him as her fellow Obelisk kin, but Otzi usually ends up quite confused by her questioning on his past and heritage, which he cannot remember, and generally doesn't worry himself over when he has to deal with his constant cold aches and the constant obsessing over him from Doc, who is beyond frustrated to have found a condition he can't seem to solve.
