Calliope

Once largely fearful of even the suggestion of a conversation, current chatterbox Callope takes pride in her leadership position for the board. A gentle friendship with fellow musician Clarinet, who was then in a similar place of social awkwardness, sparked the collection of musicians and bards that now call the clan their home.

Her singing voice was a coveted asset in the performance troupes the imperial found herself jumping between. But off of the stage, her voice stuck barbs in her throat and refused to budge. A powerful shyness gripped her in mundane social interactions, often forcing her to abandon troupes when they got a touch too pushy with their insistence at conversation. Meeting Clarinet was a turning point. He needed a voice to put to his music, and didn't care much whether or not said voice kept him company in the meantime. The young imperial would watch the pearlcatcher's hands fly across the page in spurts of clefts and crescendos, occassionally adding her own suggestion with a voiced pitch. This became their language until Calliope grew into her own - something she doubts would have happened without Clarient's patience.
