Biography
FROSTBITE
THE BLIZZARD STALKER
tricky - chaotic - misunderstood
PERSONALITY Terrified of strangers and of the situation she has found herself in, Frostbite lurks on the outer edges of the Resort. She uses the endless raging snowstorm as cover, only emerging to forage for food. Most of her days are spent searching for a way out, but she is rapidly running out of ideas. Over the months she has been present, rumors have spread quietly among the other residents about a wraith guarding the borders of their prison. Some residents are terrified of the very idea; others, notably Cxarva and Caonach, have ventured out to search for her. She carefully avoids them, unwilling to risk a confrontation. HISTORY Sometimes strength is gained through tried and true methods; sometimes, innovation is required to proceed. Frostbite was the result of the latter, an egg taken far from the Wyrmwound, buried in a snowdrift in the name of evolution. The aberration tasked with recovering her- if she hatched- was slain in an altercation with a neighboring clan, and so she emerged parentless, a monstrosity of a child alone in endless snow. Even though her eyes glowed icy blue, the cold would have buried her had she not been found by a certain traveler. Liev, a tiny veilspun, stumbled upon the shivering child in the middle of a storm. He kept her alive that first night and many more after. Liev became the strange hatchling's de facto guardian. She learned many things from him: her names, Frost for one head and Bite for the other; language; how to build a fire; how to use her magic; how to hide in plain sight. Sometimes he would teach her without meaning to, and these lessons were equally valuable: the quick and clever mannerisms of his kind; the clandestine skills that would help her survive; the knowledge that she was different from other dragons, somehow grotesque, and that when he left her alone outside of towns it was because the dragons within would reject her. This last lesson was, as she would discover, one of the most important. Liev had been gone overnight to a tiny settlement called Little Snow. It wasn't unheard of for him to do so. Frostbite had a little camp tucked away in the nearby forest, far away from any possible interference. A snowstorm blew in that night, but she wasn't worried; her magic and a steady fire would be more than enough to keep her warm. The attack came without warning. Quick bursts of Nature flight magic accompanied a furious battle cry. Flashes of blue and green darted through the trees. Frostbite, never quite having experienced such a direct attack, panicked and ran. She tried to pull her illusion magic in around her, but it was dispelled by a practiced hand. She tried to use the storm to her advantage, but her opponent was painfully quick. In fleeing, she entered a war of attrition. The attacks stung, but she was tough enough to bear them; nonetheless she found herself driven up the mountain, deeper into the snow, further from the village where Liev waited out the night. Then, all at once, the assault stopped. And nothing was around her but the storm. --- It took her days to realize what had happened. The world was all around her, but she was trapped in a bubble of glass. The edges- the safest parts, away from other dragons- were embroiled in an endless snowstorm. Go too far, and you would return to its edge. There was no 'out'. And in the middle of the bubble? An ancient, hulking structure, silent and eternal. The sign read "STORMVIEW RESORT". |
